How do the workshops use the Metaphorming® process?

The TLG Innovation Workshop enables organizations to rapidly generate solutions to new strategic initiatives, new product launches, marketing programs or other organizational business challenges. The Workshop guides individuals and teams in creating a variety of physical, 5D symbolic models that quickly illuminate their creative solutions and ideas concerning their business challenge and opportunity.

The TLG Innovation Workshop was created by Dr. Todd Siler, based on his doctoral work at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which explored the nature of creativity, learning, and innovation. Why do 5D Symbolic Models Accelerate Innovation?

Anyone can make a model. No "artistic" talent is required. No special skills are needed. The act of creating and exploring 5D Symbolic Models enable the Workshop participants to physically see, interact with and show their ideas, and to clearly communicate them to others. The models serve as a global "common language" for creating, communicating and sharing new knowledge and ideas. They're visual aids for showing-and-telling what we are thinking, envisioning, or planning. 5D Symbolic Modeling is similar to what architects do when they create physical representations of their ideas and blueprints.

Indeed, a picture is worth a thousand words, and a symbolic model is worth a thousand pictures! The models are able to express what words and numbers cannot communicate. 5D Symbolic Models are far more powerful and insightful than brainstorming and mind mapping, as well as other text-based and graphical techniques that are mostly 1-dimensional.
